Causes & Charities We Support

Supporting Charitable Causes is an important part of our Fan Group Community!

In addition to supporting local efforts and worthy causes, we also created the #FeedTheForce Hunger Relief Initiative here in Houston, Texas. Here’s a list of our select charities, which continues to grow as we grow:

Houston Food Bank (Houston)

Our Star Wars Enthusiasts of Houston Hunger Relief Initiative, called “Feed the Force” was created and launched in 2015 during the movie release weekend for The Force Awakens. This food drive campaign directly benefits the Houston Food Bank. We’ve seen the great work of their nonprofit first-hand here in our local community after floods, hurricanes and other natural disasters. We’ve also hosted volunteer days onsite in their food warehouse. The Houston Food Bank is the leader in addressing food-insecurity and hunger relief in our region. Our SWEH hunger-relief initiative started as an annual campaign back in 2015 and quickly grew into a semiannual campaign held every May and December. Our “Feed The Force” Community Food Drives have been featured by local news media for over a decade now. Join us in helping end the “dark side” of hunger in our region!

Congenital Heart Walk (Houston)

We are proud and honored to be longtime community partners of Houston Congenital Heart Walk. Our Fan Group has been supporting this annual fall walk & fundraising event for children since the inaugural launch in Houston. This nonprofit fundraiser supports the mission of The Children’s Heart Foundation: to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects (CHDs) by funding the most promising research. Our Fan Group enjoys being able to interact with the children & families, take photos with lightsabers, and cheer participants on for their special memorial walk each and every year.

Harris County Adoption Days (Houston)

We are very proud and honored to be community partners of the Harris County Adoption Days. Our Fan Group has been supporting this important event for children for several years now. This Harris County event supports children in the foster program who are officially being adopted by their forever families. Harris County Adoption Days is held annually in May in honor of “Star Wars Day”. Our Fan Group always enjoys being able to interact with the children and their families, take celebration photos with lightsabers, and support the Harris County court judges & staff during such a special, memorable day. This is the Way!

Hope In Motion Suicide Prevention Walk (Fort Bend)

We are honored to be community partners and in-kind sponsors of the “Hope In Motion” Mental Wellness & Suicide Prevention Walk. This annual awareness walk is hosted by Fort Bend Mental Health to promote a world where mental health is prioritized, understood, and supported. This nonprofit fundraiser supports Fort Bend Mental Health in order to provide education, advocacy & resources locally. A portion of the funds will also be contributed to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Our Fan Group enjoys being able to interact with attendees, take photos with lightsabers, and uplift participants during their special walk to honor loved ones while shining a light on mental wellness every year.

Star Wars Reads (Global) Galaxy-wide!

The Star Wars Reads Youth Literacy Campaign is supported by Star Wars groups & clubs, libraries, book publishers and schools around the galaxy. Our Fan Group has participated in this campaign every year during the fall season. We have hosted a live-action story time at children’s libraries followed by Star Wars arts & crafts and foam Lightsaber builds. After hurricanes in our region damaged school and classroom libraries, we hosted Star Wars book drive events. We’ve also distributed free Star Wars comic books & bookmarks at local public libraries and other events. We thank DK Books for the Star Wars Reads “Be A Rebel: Read A Book” display which we often take to public library events to help inspire and encourage children to read. Read more, you must!

Challenge Air for Kids (Conroe)

We are honored to be community partners and featured guests each year since 2019 for the Challenge Air for Kids Houston Fly Day in Conroe. This nonprofit provides special needs children with the opportunity to fly a plane with an experienced pilot guide. Challenge Air was created to change the perception of children with special needs through the gift flight and improve the quality of life for youth and their families. Our Fan Group loves being able to interact with the children, take photos with lightsabers and cheer them on for their special annual fly day. We’ve seen the great work they do first-hand!

SWEH Project Care (Texas)

One of our newest ways to give back to others is through our “Project Care“. This support-focused project includes sending cards of encouragement (and sometimes care packages) to Star Wars fans who are battling cancer. We have also “adopted” elderly assisted care facilities in our region by sending holiday cards to elderly residents. Please contact us for more information.
